The Spredfast Research & Insights Team tracked Friday’s SXSW 2016 social conversation and below are some of the highlights hidden in the data:
Perviously, we noted that buzz for President Obama and Yoshiki, the singer of X Japan, was about even in the lead-up week. After yesterday there was no doubt that Obama was the biggest thing at SXSW on Friday. The president had 688% more conversation than the next highest topic, HBO’s activation for Game of Thrones. While the president spoke we saw #SXSW conversation peak at over 1,200 Tweets Per Minute. People were also engaging with Harley Davidson’s tattoo parlor and the IBM Design Hive.
When we looked at the demographics we saw that #SXSW conversation trended male, but in both demographics it dominated the 18-34 age groups.
The most shared piece of #SXSW content came yesterday from the President queuing up the topic for his talk with Evan Smith of the Texas Tribune. This Tweet was retweeted 183% than the second most shared piece of content.
What were your highlights from the first day? We’ll be checking in tomorrow to see where the data leads us.
