One defining characteristic of #SXSW is that it’s an entire universe of events. There’s a film conference, the interactive conference, and unofficial events all providing a torrent of conversation, and the sum is definitely greater than its parts. When reviewing Sunday’s buzz at #SXSW the Research & Insights Team at Spredfast dug in on three of those subsets to see when attendees were talking and why:
SXGood, SXnoms, & The Internet of Things
1 - Social Good
We saw the two largest peaks at 11 AM and then again at 3 PM. The first was driven by McMahon announcing the beginning of the panel and the second by @WWE sharing a photo from the event which featured the Special Olympics and the Susan G. Komen foundation.
2 - Internet of Things
In the convention center exhibit hall many attended were talking about the various new technologies being showcased by companies around Internet of Things. As part of this conversation Vala Afshar, Sales Force’s Chief Digital Evangelist, tweeted where investors where sending money as the industry continues to mature.
3 - Free Food
Nearly every event at SXSW has some sort of food provided and attendees frequently compare where the best free food can be found. Yesterday we determined people most wanted to track down: Ice Cream, Tacos, and Bacon!
When talking about food at South By we saw people most excited about these offerings: Ice Cream Sandwiches, Tacos, and Bacon! The latter being provided by Mashable as part of their Mashable House.
Tomorrow we’ll provide a final wrap-up and look back at the first weekend of SXSW. What have been some of your highlights?
